INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION
IN SEED GARMENT, MARCH 07, 2010

Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia in collaboration with Seeds
Garment, Ministry of Women Affairs, and Ministry of Labour and Vocational
Training celebrate the International Women’s Day on 7th March 2010.
Seeds Garment factory hosted the event with the smiling faces of around 900
workers. Mr. Andy Lam, General Manager of Seeds Garment welcomed the workers,
employees and distinguished guests in the opening and asked all workers to work
hand-in-hand with the management to bring more business to Cambodia’s garment
industry. He congratulated workers for their hard-working spirit and wish to
see that commitment continues.
HE Vong Sauth, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and Chumteav Khim
Chamroeun, Secretary of State of Ministry of Women’s Affairs were amongst the
honored guests. The minister appreciated the management and workers who are the
symbolic cooperation of all garment factories in Cambodia. The good
relationship of all employees and employers is the strong engine to the success
of business, good living condition and the stability of job guarantee. Peaceful
workplace can build confidence for investors. It is also show the good attitude
of our people. Minister also praised the workers for their strong commitment
and productivity. He thanked the company for the contribution to help Cambodia
in her business operations even in the hard time of crisis. Ministry of Women
Affairs encouraged women to behave well in workplace and know how to
distinguish between good and bad. Help women to gain their reputation by doing
right works at right time.
Women are driving forces in the Cambodian economic development. In garment
sector alone approximately 300,000 jobs have been created and around 2 millions
Cambodians are living with this industry.
The overall celebration was meaningful and exciting one. “The celebration is
much better than I expected. I witnessed the model of cooperation of all
stakeholders, workers, management, government ministries, and garment
association” Ly Tek Heng, GMAC Operations Manager said.
