The Labour Advisory Committee releases a Notification regarding the Chea Mony’s letter appealing to all workers to stop working for 3 days to join a three-day strike.
Below is the summary of the Notification:
1) According to Chapter 15, Article 357 of the Labour Law, only the Labour Advisory Committee has the rights to discuss and recommend over the minimum wage increase. On 08 February 2010, the Labour Advisory Committee held a meeting on minimum wage increase for workers in Garment and Footwear industry. The meeting agreed that all parties must prepare their respective detailed documents to submit to the Labour Advisory Committee and then another meeting will be held.
2) Regarding the dispute resolution over labour compliance and working condition, workers and employer shall solve the problems based on the procedure stated in the law which means that they have to go through conciliation and in the event that the conciliation cannot be reached, it can be submitted to AC and if AC still cannot solve the problem, workers have an option to stage strike or refer to the court.
