Sewing Production Control

This course aims to improve the quality of sewing and increase production in any apparel manufacturing facility. The subject comprises of 5 modules; process analysis, operation analysis, time study, motion study and production design.  Through this course, participants will also be able to learn the concept of middle management and its rule, the method of fair work allocation on each operator and the idea to layout the sewing machines based on the style of garment, number of sewing machines, number of operators and the number of orders per style. In addition, 5s knowledge, problem investigation process and work improvement (Kaizen) method will also be trained in this course.

Quality Control (QC)

This course will mainly focus on the knowledge of garment quality management and the roles and responsibilities of quality checkers as well as quality controlling supervisors. Many methods to deduct defect rate are added to the course contents such as pre-production quality management, production-in-process quality management and post-production quality management.     

In addition, the detailed techniques of garment checking, garment measuring methods, defect cause investigation, defect prevention, quality problem solving methods are included in this course to ensure that the participants who attend this course will have enough ability to solve those problems as they are related to garment quality and occur regularly at work. The structure of quality management and information about AQL (accepted quality level) of some buyers will be provided through this course as well.

Role & Key Responsibility of Line Leader

This course brings important subjects related to management skills for middle management level such as supervisors and line leaders to understand their roles and key responsibilities so that they can manage and lead the team well with high efficiency. The method of management through the cycle of PDCA, 5w1H, and the method of investigation of the causes of problem by Fish Bone Chart, Kaizen (Improvement), and the knowledge of 5s are the main contents of this course.

In addition, the worse points coming from the carelessness of workers and the lack of ability of supervisors or line leaders which caused effect on daily output, garment quality and delivery time will also be included for discussion and analysis in this course.

5S is a philosophy and a way of organizing and managing the workspace and work flow with the intent to improve efficiency by eliminating waste, improving flow and reducing process unreasonableness.

Note: (“5s” knowledge is a very important part of job that all employees should know, especially for persons who are working as a team in factories and enterprises such as the operators, line leaders and supervisors.)

Pattern Making Skill

Depend on type of course content –type of garment

This course is mainly provide the participants with the basic skill of pattern drawing, garment assembling and plus with sewing skill as well as ironing method.
The items to be chosen for training are pattern making skill on Skirts, Blouses, Women’s Pants, Dress, Women’s Jackets, and Women’s Jacket with lining.


The courses are covered by the following contents:

Fashion Drawing: To know the basic of fashion drawing through all elements.

Sewing Machine Mechanic (Basic Level)

The basic machine repairing class is an intensive basic training course where you will diagnose and service one or more malfunctioning sewing machines in the class after receiving the training.

You will learn the various systems of sewing machines, how each system works and how to adjust it for proper operation. The basic class is the foundation for all service procedures and the basics must be understood before advancing to the next level.

This course is mainly focus on basic level of sewing skill technique and the role of the operators. It very suites the new operator who just have been recruited.

Sewing Skill-Level 2

Level 2/intermediate sewing course is intended for students who have some sewing background and typically includes a review of basic skills. Students also learn how to add buttons and zippers to garments. Sizing, measuring, fabric types and fabric care may also be covered in this course.
In addition, this course provides the participants the sewing technique of the sewing the completed garment. All process of cutting, sewing, and ironing are explained and demonstrated by trainers.

Labor Contract Termination Procedure

Labor contract is the contract that covers relation between workers/employees and employers. According to Cambodian Labour Law, the labor contract was divided into 2 types such as labor contract of specific duration and labor contract of unspecified duration. Moreover, the labor law has also clearly divided and defined between these 2 contracts. However, some workers/employees and employers still blurred and confused these 2 contracts. GMAC is organizing the course in order to enlarge knowledge and explain about the labor contracts to members and other relevant parties.

Payment Calculation Method under the Cambodia Labor Law

Payments calculation for employees correctly under the Cambodian Labor law is still a main question for many factories. GMAC designed this intensive training course in order to guide employees on calculation methods in accordance with the law for all the payments as defined in the Cambodian Labor Law. It is hoped that the participants will know clearly the correct methods for calculating the following payments after this training. Related Laws & Regulations will be given as supporting references for each calculation.

Labor Dispute Resolution Procedure in Cambodia

Dispute is something that is hard to avoid in any work place. Once it happens, it is very important that the factory managers know how to deal with it. Under the Cambodian Labor Law, the labor disputes are divided into Individual Labor Disputes and the Collective ones. The Cambodian Labor Law provides different procedures for settling them. As such, as the factory managers, supervisors, team leaders, you should be able to differentiate between the individual and collective disputes and know their settlement procedures. This course will provide you this knowledge.

How to deal with Trade Union and Shop Steward

The communication and corporation with trade unions is still a difficulty for many factories. GMAC designed this course in order to provide the participants with legal aspect regarding the trade union and shop steward. Moreover, the course will enlarge the understanding of factories and also provide more understanding about the improvement of collaboration and communication with trade union and shop steward and reduce labor disputes in the factory.

Work-related to Accident

An accident or illness in work-related if it happens to an employee due to work, during working hours or while they are traveling directly to or from home and work. Occupational illnesses are also considered as an work-related accidents. Employers are responsible for, or must make someone responsible for preventing work-related accidents.

Any enterprise/establishment employing 8 or more workers must register in NSSF. The NSSF is a public organization which provides social security insurance to all workers under the provisions of the Labor Law.

Method of Negotiation and Facilitation

Dispute is something that is hard to avoid in any work place. Once it happens, it is very important that the factory managers know how to deal with it. Negotiation and facilitation with other parties require you to have both of knowledge and patience. The negotiation with workers sometimes may be hard to lead to agreement as they insist employers to follow their demands regardless considering the consequence of employers and legal requirement. Methods of negotiation and facilitation provide you the best way for win-win resolution for both parties.

Child Labor and Forced Labor

The minimum allowable age for regular employment is 15 according to Art. 177 of Labor Law. In order to avoid hiring underage workers, recruiters should give preference to job seekers with a mature appearance and should cross check documents to ensure that they are not falsified or borrowed. Minor (people less than 18 years old) may not sign an employment contract without the consent of their parents or guardian. A minor may not be employed to perform night work.

The employer must avoid requiring workers to use excessive physical force which is harmful to their health, especially if it may hurt their backs.

Case Preparation for Arbitration Council’s hearing

If the conciliation of a collective dispute does not lead to an agreement, the Ministry in charge of Labor will refer the dispute to the Arbitration Council. The Arbitration Council is a tri-parties which its members nominated by union, employer association and Ministry of Labor.

Before the AC’s hearing, the parties must prepare all relevant documents and evidences supporting their claims. The arbitral award will be decided based upon on the laws and evidences of parties.
